The Wisdom to Survive

This beautifully-filmed documentary examines the challenges that climate change poses and discusses meaningful action that can be taken by individuals and communities.

The film asks if we will have the wisdom to survive. It features thought leaders and activists in the realms of science, economics and spirituality discussing how we can evolve and take action in the face of climate disruption. They encourage us to open ourselves to the beauty that surrounds us and get to work on ensuring it thrives.

We hope you can join us on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 7 pm to view the film and enjoy some delicious dessert and thoughtful discussion.

Give it up for the Earth!

Along with other churches around the world who are observing a “carbon fast” during Lent, we are challenged to examine our daily actions and reflect on how these impact the environment.  We can then take small steps to reduce our carbon dioxide output with the hope of helping the environment and bringing the world one step closer to a sustainable existence.

Calculate your personal carbon footprint. It just takes a few minutes and provides you with a baseline from which to start your efforts to reduce your carbon footprint. CIS will be providing suggestions as to how to do this in various areas of our lives over the next months. A great activity for the whole family!

Stories that Connect Us
Our Theme for Lent this year examines the ways we need Connection in our lives, including the need to Disconnect and Reconnect. Throughout Lent we will use stories from the Gospel of John to examine our own need for connection, disconnection and reconnection: with God, with our community, with the world, and with ourselves.
