Trinity Memorial Art Gallery
As you move from our church lobby to the sanctuary, you pass through the Trinity Memorial Art Gallery. The gallery is a transition from street to sanctuary that showcases spiritually sensitive art. It honours the subtle influence visual art has on enhancing our spirituality and shaping our faith. It is equipped as a warm, receptive and inspiring space used by church members and community friends to quietly sit, to reflect, to read, and even to pray. Gallery Hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Trinity United Church was designed in 1962 by architect James Strutt. It is quite unique in appearance, and has been judged to be amongst the top 500 buildings in Canada in architectural significance. It is said that it was intended to represent Noah’s Ark, with the pointed structure at the south end simulating the bow and the laminated redwood pillars embedded within the walls, while constituting the frame of the building, representing the spars. (The shape of the building may also have been partially dictated by the triangular lot.)
