As you move from our church lobby to the sanctuary, you pass through the Trinity Memorial Art Gallery. The gallery is a transition from street to sanctuary that showcases spiritually sensitive art. It honours the subtle influence visual art has on enhancing our spirituality and shaping our faith. It is equipped as a warm, receptive and inspiring space used by church members and community friends to quietly sit, to reflect, to read, and even to pray.
Andrea Cardin grew up with a love of photography but didn't always see it as a career. She started out pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, but it didn't take long to realize it wasn't what she loved. Completely changing gears, Andrea graduated from Algonquin College in 2007 from the Photography program. This is her first exhibition of her landscape pieces. She started her own company, Cardin Photography, in 2006 specializing in wedding and event photography. Her work will be in our Gallery until the end of August.
As an artist, Eileen tries to preserve the beauty of wildlife, people, and the things that surround us every day. As she explores this creative process, her hope is that viewers will be moved and appreciate the experience in their own unique way.
Her formal training began with nationally known artists from such schools as: Buckhorn School of Art, Loyalist College, St. Lawrence College, Algonquin College, Bridgewater Retreat and artist workshops. Hours of study and experimentation have led to some self-taught techniques and her interest in photography also plays an important part in the development of ideas for her paintings.
She teaches workshops in drawing, coloured pencil, and perspective. She currently teaches watercolours, from her home, where students are encouraged to develop their own style using new and innovative techniques, enabling them to progress at their own pace. She has received several awards.
Eileen's exhibition, A Brush with Nature, was displayed in the Gallery until April 30.
